CORPORE ABSENS
Alessandro Ragazzo_Dornwald 2021
The body of the absent is made up of the word body-absent. What does remain of the man-structure (as
an event) in the temporality of a space? This sound exercise asks to itself: what does the subject leave
after its passage, manifesting itself in a place or space?
CORPORE ABSENS is like a snail slime, a residue, an inorganic passage, a fragment without will, an
excrement. It is the effect of no longer staying where you were; the subject continually tears in its every
moment or instant, place and dialectic. Quoting Spinoza: “the mind does not recognize his own body or
itself, if not for the affections of one and the other ".
Feeling nothing specific, nothing that speaks of life, when it is not hindered. Body and subject are at the
contemplation of the moment, getting lost in symbolism in its dialectic, without intuition.
Space or place, temporal container of a fact or a life.
Ambience not necessarily resonant.
In its vanishing, the body deposits its contemplation in the moment, losing its dialectic and the symbolism.
The flow of things or events is isolated, frozen from the general context of lack of time or space, making
the relationship between object and subject, between space and time, disappear, erasing the concept of
reason.
The remains of the passage of an event, amplified fragments that contradict themselves in their actions.
Plato mentioned that “things of this world that our senses perceive have no real construct in their being,
because they always become by changing, but they never ARE, reaching only one being wich is relative,
therefore certainly lacking ".
That lacking becomes present and obsessive in the “Coretti” (cover art) frescoed by Giotto in 1300 in the
Scrovegni chapel in Padua, the only two "ABSENT" parts of the entire biblical pantheon frescoed by
Giotto; spaces frozen and connected to each other, the nocturnal and diurnal alternated in the time cycle
representing the human, but nothing more. Suspended environments where everything has yet to
happen or perhaps has already happened, organic expectations that return to the inorganic that is their
silence.
-Insertion of Veda chants pt 1-2
From this changing appearance arise, in the last two chapters of the album, even chants from the
Vedantic indian tradition, traditional mantra from the sacred text of the Upanishads, that describe the
universe and the human experience dividing themselves between Atman as “true knowledge” and the
knowledge of Maya as“not true knowledge” and so ILLUSION, returning to the echo or the resonance of
the body as an absence in a precise place or space of a disappeared or hoped entity.
